Natural Events Calendar
Jim died on the Ides of March, 2007, of lung cancer.
Click on Farewell to Jim for details.
The Natural Events Calendar pages were dearest to our hearts and the ones we worked most closely together on. Each month, we
highlighted on these pages 6 or 7 events from the physical Almanac, partly for the sheer enjoyment of it, partly
as an introduction to the Natural Events Archive on this site, and partly in hopes that people would be intregued
and buy that year's almanac.
They haven't been any fun without him. At first I considered a monthly reshuffling of the existing pages in
the archive, but I haven't had the heart. Instead, I will repost for each month a previous selection, hoping that you
will go on to explore the Natural Events Archive and maybe even buy a back issue or two. In each back issue you can find
the complete calendar for each month of the year, and in addition, as Jim modestly put it, "a phenomenal amount of information about our region's nature,
folklore, geology, wildlife and oddities."
