Ticks

Genus Acari

When out hiking in the woods in the summer, be careful! The @$^%$#&^%# baby ticks are hatching. The insufferably hot days and nights have nurtured the eggs to ripeness and now they're disgorging their annoying contents to seek out those whom they may devour - well, feast on at any rate.

To avoid these little critters - and they're practically microscopic - don't brush up against vegetation, avoid deer trails when hiking and never sit down on the ground when in tick country. Should you find yourself hosting a mob of tiny ticks get some duck tape and, using the sticky side out, dab at the concentration until all are safely stuck to the tape. This is the easiest and most effective method I know to rid yourself of these pesky parasites. And always bathe as soon as possible after a hike to wash off any undetected stragglers!
